TU Graz

The Institute of Applied Information Processing and Communications (IAIK) focuses on information security. Sixty researchers at IAIK conduct research, teach, and consult private and as public organizations. The institute is part of the Faculty of Computer Science at Graz University of Technology.

IAIK researches information security in a broad context: Researchers work in Formal Methods, Secure Crypto-implementations, Secure e-Government, and Trustworthy Systems. Highlights include cryptography, e-identity, RFID security, secure hardware and software implementations of cryptographic algorithms, side-channel analysis, network security, and formal methods for design and verification.

Members of IAIK have been driving Austrias eGovernment and have also been key in the development of Austrias “Handy-Signatur”, an instance of a remote electronic signature scheme. In cooperation with Stiftung SIC, IAIK also markets it’s own remote signature implementation. In combination with IAIK’s regular involvement in standardization (W3C, TSETSE, OASIS, ISO), becoming a member of the Cloud Signature Consortium IAIK shows the relevance of the work to be done.
